This is a site I served on for 3 years. Not a typical radar site I must admit. In case you are wondering the QTH is Gibraltar and the site is called Rock Gun, mainly because the radar head is actually built on an old naval gun emplacement. In point of fact the barrel can still be seen today sticking out from the foundations of the building. Not much room to run around up there as you can see.
Just a typical radar picture. This one obviously of Gibraltar. Range approx 100 miles.
The hole in the middle from the centre to approx 80 miles is what is called MTI (or Moving Target Indicator). In "theory" only Moving Targets e.g. aircraft , will show up. As you can see not really effective - wot !!
